Stephen has also studied at the New York Film Academy taking an intensive course in filmmaking. He formed McMillian Productions LLC in 2006 and acted in, produced, wrote and directed two “experimental” short films, My Name is Kenneth Evans, which aired several times on Jersey City's local cable channel during the summer of 2008, and No Weapon Formed, both of which are preludes to a feature film .
As an actor Stephen trained with the late Titus Walker’s Ujaama Theater Ensemble as well as with Tracey Moore, who has coached Dave Chappelle, Eve, DMX and many others, of the renown Spirited Actor and Experienced Actor workshops and classes.
As a journalist, Stephen has written for various periodicals and news outlets. He began his professional journalism career at the Jersey City Daily Challenge, a local African-American newspaper. Since then he has written for outlets such as SoulTrain.com, The Jersey Journal and Jersey City Magazine. Under his SteveMacPress banner, he has covered award shows, concerts, movie premieres, red carpet arrivals and other events.
Born and raised in the rough inner-city section of Jersey City, NJ, he battled but overcame abuse, bullying and low self-esteem to realize the specially unique, talented and blessed individual God created him to be. It was, and still is, Stephen’s strong faith in God that continually helps him to shine and to not only see the light at the end of the tunnel, but to see the light through the tunnel.
